International Print Center New York presents Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here, opening in IPCNY's gallery at 508 West 26th Street, 5th floor on June 13th. The exhibition assembles artists' responses to the tragic loss of a cultural and intellectual hub in Bagdad that occurred on March 5, 2007, by a bomb explosion. In partnership with 5 other organizations, the exhibition will be displayed in our Viewing Room.
11 books will be on display by the following artists:Laurie Alpert, Franz Baake, Angie Butler & Natalie McGrorty, Azadeh Fatehrad, Ania Gilmore & Annie Zeybekoglu, Noëlle Griffiths, Sarah Jacobs, Karen, Kunc, Andrew Law, Elcin Marasli, and Christina Mitrents.
....Among the many artists books scattered throughout the William Morris Hunt Memorial Library is Elçin Maraslis Apricots Before the Sky, a book that successfully combines text, typography, photography, graphic design in a way that recalls works of "the new vision," including the photography of László Moholy-Nagy."
